TOXsim is a liquid solution developed to help prepare and
train professionals and first responders such as fire brigades,
civil defence, emergency services, police and military forces
prepare for the handling of hazardous materials. TOXsim is part
of the TOXsim training kit developed by OWR.
The consistency of TOXsim and its decontamination
characteristics are similar to that of blister agents. It is
available as either a medium or high viscous liquid. The
training detection paper included in the kit reacts to TOXsim
like detection paper does to real chemical warfare agents, but
because TOXsim is non-toxic it allows operatives to train in
safety. TOXsim sticks to nearly all surfaces like real chemical
contamination, spreads via contact and can be safely applied to
protective suits and the skin of trainees so they can practice
the procedures of decontamination.
Residues of TOXsim are luminescent under ultraviolet light and
can be detected with an ultraviolet lamp supplied as part of
the kit.
